THE MINERAL IMPERATIVE

The Critical Minerals Hub was founded by Amanda van Dyke to raise public awareness of the essential role minerals play in every part of modern life. From energy and infrastructure to electronics, mobility, food systems, and advanced technologies, our world runs on minerals — yet most people have no idea how dependent we are on them, or how fragile many of these supply chains have become.

This reality is what Amanda calls the Mineral Imperative:

The inescapable truth that human progress is constrained and defined by the minerals we are able to extract, refine, and secure. What we can build, invent, or power depends on the materials we command.

In January 2026, Amanda will publish her groundbreaking new book, The Mineral Imperative, which explores this idea in depth. It traces how minerals have shaped civilisation, explains why the global demand for critical minerals is entering a historic supercycle, and lays out the geopolitical, economic, and technological stakes of a world competing for the materials that make modern life possible. Drawing on 25 years in mining and finance, the book offers a clear, urgent argument: the energy transition, digital revolution, and future of prosperity all begin with mining — and we are dangerously unprepared.

We will be sharing more information on pre-orders, launch events, and special features over the coming weeks.

Please stay tuned — and join the conversation online as we explore why minerals matter, where they come from, and how the world can secure a future built on stable, responsible, and resilient supply chains.
